    chapter 3: tsukasa

Konata- Matt we have a problem!
    Matt- (Sigh) what?
Konata- People seem confused about your sister's age, they've commented on it, they don't look happy.
    Hayase- My age I'm five aren't I? Let's see, one, two...three...four...six...twenty five...five!
Matt- Of course you're five and you're doing that on purpose...ok let's put it straight, she's five years old in the story and by the end she'll be eight, not seven but eight...no more complaining about something that doesn't really matter, blame the writer if you really have nothing better to do.
Konata- Well that isn't very nice, I think their all just expressing their opinion.
Matt- Konata, I'm a fictional character, what do I care? It's not like people can find me and beat me up.
Konata- Ok, point taken Matt. People are allowed to have an imagination you know.
Matt- Take you for example, more than half of the stories on here are about you sticking your tongue into another girl's mouth, there's even a few about you and your dad!
Konata- Really, I might have to read a couple of these stories. They sound pretty good.
Matt- (Sigh) can we get the next chapter started already? It's too early for your childish bantering.
Konata- Awww you know you love it Matt.
Matt- I do not Konata! Can we please get a move on already?
Konata- Sure, the Tsukasa chapter…isn't it?
Tsukasa- Huh, a chapter about me?
Konata- AHHHH a character who isn't in the story yet, Must get rid of her before the audience sees her!
Konata pulls out a small rubber ball and tosses it as far as she could; Tsukasa who seems interested chases the ball out of sight, much to Konata's amusement.
Konata- That was Moe, don't you think Matt?
Matt- She's not a dog you know, that was a bit cruel.
Konata- Come on, you enjoyed that, I know you too well. You think you're so good at hiding your feelings but I can tell when you like something…typical Tsundere.
    Matt- I'M NOT A TSUNDERE!
    Konata- Whatever you say.
Matt turned away from Konata and as she tried to get a look at his face, she swore she could see a small smile come across his face.
    Konata- 'I knew it'
Konata- Anyway, let's get going with Tsukasa's chapter!
    TSUKASA
It was Monday morning and as my alarm clock went off on my desk, I slowly opened my eyes to realise that it was my first day of being a high school student...no more lie ins for a while unfortunately. I thought I might be able to sneak in a few more minutes of sleep but as the thought entered my head, my door creaked open and tiny footsteps could be heard. I felt a few pokes on my arm but I didn't say anything as I had re shut my eyes.
''Time to wake up'' whispered Nano into my ear ''it's your first day of school's today''.
''F...five more minutes Nano'' I mumbled as I turned away ''sleepy''.
I thought I would get away with it but before I knew it, another person was shaking my shoulder and making me feel very uncomfortable before I got a sudden boost out of my sheets and a frightening experience as I fell sideways.
''WAKE UP!'' yelled Hayase as I fell out of my bed in fright, my head banging on the blue carpet in my room.
''What the hell did you do that for!'' I yelled back at her in an angry voice ''Scared the hell out of me!''.
''I thought you might wake up if I tried yelling at you...I been trying for a million seconds!'' said Hayase with a big giggle afterwards, charming that she finds me being in pain amusing. Anyway with that done and dusted I went about with the usual morning tasks of getting myself ready, my sister ready because she had no plans of going to school...she's always be stubborn about it because she's probably going to be smarter than most people her age.
''I don't want to go!'' yelled Hayase as I got out her uniform.
''But everyone has to'' replied Nano. ''You can't miss school''.
''You don't go to school'' pointed out Hayase.
''Because you won't let me go'' muttered Nano.
Hayase still looked annoyed as Nano tried to calm he down but as they argued, time was slowly running out and I really didn't want to be late on my first day.
''Come on you two...I don't have a lot of time so come on Hayase and get changed, I have to drop you off before I can go to school myself'' I said as I pulled them apart. I doubt they were going to do anything but it's better to be safe than sorry right?
''I SAID I'M NOT GOING, I'M A GENIUS AND DON'T NEED IT!'' snapped Hayase as she pulled a major sulk. Nano looked unsure on what to do about it.
''Hayase'' Nano moaned. ''Don't be like this''
''I guess you don't want snacks ever again then'' I said teasingly out of the blue and it immediately caught her attention ''Being the genius you are and all''.
''I WANT SNACKS, THEY FUEL MY BRAIN!'' yelled a frustrated Hayase. ''I can't think without my shark chocolate''.
''Then go to school and I'll buy you some snacks on the way home'' I told Hayase who stopped her little protest and the childish smile quickly reappeared...it really doesn't take much does it. All I could think was bless her as her face lit up and she was happy again.
    ''I love school'' cheered Hayase.
''Of course you do'' I sighed.
After Nano had eventually gotten Hayase into her school uniform, she made her way down towards me as I slipped my shoes on in the doorway, I had to quickly drop her off before getting on a train and meeting Konata, she's never going to let today go if I'm late.
''We'll be off then Nano'' I said quickly ''Do you need anything before we go?''.
''Ummm well I could use some extra money for some shopping'' asked Nano kindly.
''Take what you need from the pot'' I replied with a grin. ''is there anything else?''.
''No, that's all'' kindly replied Nano. ''Have a good day you two''.
We watched as Nano waved us off, we made our way down the street and across the busy main road before taking a shortcut through a small park. Hayase didn't appear to be in much of a rush as I was which made things slightly awkward.
''We'll be late if you don't start walking faster'' I pointed out to her but it went straight through her, she kept walking at the same slow pace….without a care in the world.
''Just promise that you won't humiliate all of the other kids'' I asked Hayase.
''It's not my fault their so dumb''. huffed Hayase
I dropped Hayase off at her school before running as fast as I could to the train station when the thought of why didn't Konata meet me at my house or me at hers? we're just about neighbours so why meet each other a few miles away?
    Konata
''Where is he...he's never been late before'' I thought to myself as for the first time...ever, I had arrived at the meeting spot before Matt did.
It's not every day that I really worry about much but I can't help but be worried if Matt's not here yet, he's always on time...always, maybe I should call him. Wait he'll be freaked out if he thinks I'm concerned, it's not like I've really ever shown that side before, that's why we-
''Morning Konata...sorry I'm late'' panted Matt as I spotted him run out of the train station, I felt happy that he was here but I'm not going to let him know how happy.
''You're late'' I said teasingly. ''you get a penalty!''.
''One day...you've been late every other day at Junior High'' he said annoyed. ''My sister was being a bit awkward so I got held up, you know what she's like''.
''Well you're here now so it doesn't matter now'' I said as I smiled at him. He might seem a little stressed alot but if everyone knew what he's been through and what he has to do to look after his family then they would understand, he's one of the kindest people I've ever met...he's a tsundere but he doesn't seem to think so.
''Let's get going then'' said Matt as he caught his breath. ''I could use a drink right about now''.
We left the station and headed to our new school but along the way I couldn't help but worry about being in separate classes from him, we've always been in the same class and I don't want that to change today...it just can't. I wouldn't have a reason to even go to school if Matt wasn't sat by me.
''Are you ok Konata, you look like something's on your mind?'' Matt asked me in a concerned voice. ''You didn't spend all night playing online again did you?''
''Oh, I'm fine...just hoping we're in the same class again'' I laughed. ''And yes, I did spent most of the night online''.
''We will, we always are but that's not an excuse to spend another year copying my work and not doing it yourself and I don't want you to find another person to do it to either'' he told me like he was my big brother or something...I thought it was cute but I hid my grin from him.
''Yes master'' I said as I did a mock salute. ''I'll do whatever you say…whatever you say…''.
''You're such a child...I hope you're going to try and grow up a bit at high school'' Matt sighed as he scratched his head.
''You don't mean that man, you love me the way I am'' I giggled. ''You once told me to never change, remember last winter?''.
''I meant I want you to take school seriously this time, I worry about your future Konata'' Matt told me seriously. ''And I'll admit that I did tell you to never change but you could try and make school count''.
    ''I will…maybe'' I winked.
''You're hopeless'' he said annoyed as I walk on towards the school, he looked concerned that I was just going to mess around and never do my work…should I be thinking about it so much though? I mean the only reason I ever go to school at all is because of him, to be near him…to hopefully get him to see how I feel but how I do so without him thinking I'm just messing around? .
    Matt
In the hallway, students were everywhere trying to get a glimpse of the board and find out where they would be for the year, since Konata was so desperate to find out, she had ran straight into the crowd and would remerge minutes later with a big smile on her face.
''I knew it!'' cheered an ecstatic Konata as she immediately crushed my ribs with a hug. She looked like she had just won the lottery, her face had gone red and she kept on cheering as people looked at her and seemed to be surprised that she was a high school student at all….probably because of her height and all.
''Are we in the same class then?'' I asked her as I tried to breathe.
    ''You know it'' smirked Konata.
''In that case I hope we have a good year together'' I said to Konata as I bowed out of respect as she did the same.
We looked around at all the other people and some looked happy but some looked sad, the cruelty and the kindness of the random draw.
''I'll meet you there and I'll save you a desk right next to me!'' Konata said excited as she ran off down the hallway and out of my sight. I sighed but smiled as it was nice to see her happy. Before I would too make my way to the classroom to join her, I noticed in the corner of my eye a purple haired girl pacing up and down with her head in her hands. At first I thought I should leave her too it but I noticed that no one was going up to her and asking if everything was alright.
I approached her gently and tapped her on the shoulder, she took her head from her hands and I almost blushed slightly from what I saw…it was an adorable and honest face, I could already tell that this girl was kind and sweet.
''Are you ok…you look a little lost?'' I asked her gently but she quickly jumped up and had a look of fright on her face, as if she thought I was going to attack her.
''Don't hurt me!'' she yelled as tears fell from her eyes. ''I beg you to leave me alone''.
I could feel people's eyes descending upon me, it was as if I was holding this girl captive and they were disgusted by it, I had to think fast before the situation got worse.
''Hang on their, why would I hurt you?'' I asked in a small panic ''I was only asking a question…you looked a little confused is all''.
She slowly calmed down and the suspicious gazes of students around us left. I was relieved that they all understood that the girl had overreacted and that I hadn't done anything wrong.
''Are…are you going to bully me?'' she asked me with a whimper. ''I wouldn't be surprised, my sister tells me that people try to use me and they make fun of me afterwards''.
''Again, why would I do that…I'm trying to help you'' I said as I tried to smile but found it difficult to do so.
''That's what she said they would say to me…she tells me that people are bad and heartless monsters, especially boys'' She said unsure.
''I promise you that I won't hurt you or use you…all I want to know is if your alright?'' I asked her with a smile.
She looked unsure whether to answer me or not, her mind appeared to be debating on whether to trust me or not. She closed her eyes closed and her legs were shaking from fear.
''Do you want me to get a girl or a teacher to talk to you…since you obviously don't trust me or any other boy in this school?'' I asked her disappointedly.
''I….I don't know'' she replied softly.
''What do you mean?'' I asked confused ''Yes or no?''
''I don't know why but I get a feeling that your telling the truth to me…it's strange but I feel it'' she said as she calmed down and took a couple of deep breathes. ''I'll tell you what's wrong''.
She was quick to change her mind; I wonder what made her trust me after she blasted the entire male race only a short time ago.
''I…I feel nervous so please excuse any stuttering'' said Tsukasa.
''Understood'' I said kindly back to her.
''I just looked at the notice bo..ard and I don't know an….yone in my class and my sister's in another one to me''. She explained sadly to me, I looked at the board before realising I had no idea what her name was.
''Excuse me but what's your name, if you don't mind me asking?'' I asked her kindly.
''Ummm….Tsu….Tsuk….it's Tsukasa'' Tsukasa said nervously as she closed her eyes again. This was one nervous girl, I felt bad for her and it made me want to help her. I searched for her name on the board and by coincidence it turned out she was in my class.
''What luck…we're class mates'' I said happily to her in order to make her feel a little better but I'm not sure it worked as she looked the same.
''We…we are?'' said Tsukasa in an unsure manner.
''Look, I won't do anything to you…ok?'' I said softly ''you're getting worked up over nothing, if anything I would try and protect you from stuff like that''.
''You mean…like my sister?'' asked Tsukasa in a down tone.
''Well….maybe not to that extent to tell you that all men are heartless creatures but I would try and build your confidence so you could meet new people and make friends'' I tried to explain to Tsukasa.
''I…I've never really had a friend before'' said a sad Tsukasa.
''You will do…I'll help in any way I can'' I promised her.
''I hope you don't mind me asking but can you help me….find my way to the room'' Tsukasa asked shyly.
''I was just about to head there, just stick by me and you'll get there'' I winked.
''Ummm can I quickly ask you a question?'' Tsukasa said to me
    ''Sure, go ahead'' I replied.
''What's your name…you don't look Japanese yet you speak it perfectly?'' she said confused.
''Oh…my name's Matthew Yamamoto and I'm only half Japanese…my father was from England'' I explained to Tsukasa.
''Wow…I've never been to England….or out of Japan'' she said as she sounded amazed.
I'm not really surprised by that to be honest.
''I don't understand but I feel that I can trust you…even though my sister said I wouldn't need to trust a boy, is this some kind of trick?'' Tsukasa asked me in a confused manner.
''Listen, I have no idea what you're sister has told you and It's none of my business but you can't judge every man in the world for the same…there are good men who are kind and honest and they don't deserve to be judged by how one or two idiots act'' I told her.
''I…I had that feeling'' Tsukasa told me. ''I already feel I can trust you even though we've only just met, you're the first person to talk to me apart from my sister here''.
''Well you looked lost so I wanted to help you'' I explained to Tsukasa. ''I know it's early and all but if you can't find your sister or if you feel like you can't talk to her…you can come to me'' I said nervously in case she panicked but as I looked at her, she smiled for the first time.
''I can…I wasn't expecting anyone to be so kind to me…I've never really had anyone to talk to out of my family before…Junior high was a lonely time for me so I assumed the same would happen here'' Tsukasa said in a down voice.
''That's awful Tsukasa…you seem to be a very nice person yet you say you're lonely…I don't understand'' I said to her.
''Well…my sister does tend to scare people away from me, I think people would like to be my friends but their too afraid to approach me'' Tsukasa explained.
''Well…if you want, we can be friends…that is you want to be?'' I asked Tsukasa ''I won't use you or bully you at all and I'm always around to talk to if you need to''.
Tsukasa's cheeks lit up as she scrunched her face into her hands. I thought I had made her cry but she giggled and looked at me with a happy and heart warming smile.
''I would like that very much'' she replied happily. ''We're friends then''.
I then suggested that we got a move on to the classroom before we would be late. I grabbed her hand and gently ran down the corridor with her to the room, we managed to arrive before the teacher and as promised, Konata had saved me a seat right next to her. She raised her eye brow as she saw Tsukasa walk in alongside me and people in the class began to whisper but I didn't care about that, people can say what they want.
''Who's your friend?'' Konata asked teasingly ''She's cute''.
Tsukasa went a deep red and blushed as she closed her eyes, she was shy and afraid to open her eyes.
''Konata…say hello to Tsukasa….ummm'' I said before realising I had forgotten her last name.
    ''Ummm well I…I-
''Go on Tsukasa, she won't bite'' I joked.
''Hiiragi…Tsukasa Hiiragi, it's…It's nice to meet you'' bowed Tsukasa nervously to Konata.
''It's nice to meet you too Tsukasa, I'm Konata'' bowed Konata. ''I love your hair by the way''.
''You do? It's nothing special'' blushed Tsukasa as she gently stroked it.
''It'd be cuter with a ponytail, don't you agree Matt?'' Konata asked me out of the blue.
''Ummm yeah'' I answered ''But I like it the way it is also''.
''No one's ever complimented my hair before'' giggled a happy Tsukasa. ''This is all new to me''.
''Anyway why did you two run in together all sweating'' said Konata teasingly.
Tsukasa couldn't go much redder but I was surprised that she knew what Konata was on about since she hadn't spoken to many people out of her family circle.
''Oh ha-ha Konata, we didn't want to be late, that's all so we ran here'' I confessed to her.
Before Konata could respond with what surely would have been a sexual reference or something stupid like that, the room door flew open and a blonde haired woman ran inside the classroom and behind her desk. She looked exhausted and her hair was a complete mess.
''Sit your butts down!'' she yelled loudly, scaring Tsukasa and myself into our seats. ''I'm Mrs Kuroi and I'm your homeroom teacher, I'm expecting you all to be hard workers and I won't accept slackers in this class.
We would all then introduce ourselves and Tsukasa managed to be brave enough to say her name and slightly bow before running back to her seat and Konata did the Haruhi Suzamiya routine again which she received a whack on the head from the teacher….I thought capital punishment was banned now?
''Now that it's all settled and we know each other a bit, it's time to decide study partners for this school year…half of your names are in this box so will the following students please come up here and pick a slip.
''What this means is you will be partners with these people for all of my classes and will be given homework assignments to do together''. Explained Mrs Kuroi
Konata and Tsukasa were called up as I stayed in my seat. Soon enough I had Konata looking at me with sparking green eyes as she held a piece of paper close to my face with my name on it….I swear that box was rigged and as for Tsukasa, she was given a pink haired girl called Miyuki who looked just as nervous as Tsukasa so I don't know how that's going to work out.
The rest of the morning went well, Konata was her usual goofy self and Tsukasa started to talk more and more as the morning progressed. Soon enough, it was already lunch and Tsukasa said she was having it with her sister but would join us another time. It was the usual banter between me and Konata which I didn't mind because neither of us would insult the other….just tease them but Konata kept asking me random questions about food and it got really boring towards the end of the hour.
''Hey Matt, which end of a Chocó cornet is the head, the fat end or the skinny end?'' Konata asked me confused.
''I don't care Konata, I just don't care!'' I replied with a huff ''Make your own decision on it''.
''But your opinion counts'' said Konata.
''Fine the fat end then'' I said quickly.
''So we agree on that'' cheered Konata with a grin on her face.
    ''Damn'' I muttered.
''So what do you think of Tsukasa?'' Konata asked me with interest.
''Shy but sweet'' I replied. ''I think that with enough time, she'll come out of her shell and talk more''.
''True but haven't you heard the rumours about her sister?'' she said as she asked another question.
''Only from Tsukasa herself'' I replied.
''I'd be careful around her if their true…no one likes an angry big sister chasing after them…I heard that this girl once chased a group of boys with a big ruler for no reason''.
Oh come on, no one can get that angry…can they? Whoever Tsukasa's sister is then I'm sure the rumours are just made up….I mean Tsukasa is so sweet yet people make her sister to be some kind of monster. It just doesn't make any sense at all.
Tsukasa eventually came back in just before the bell rang and she seemed somewhat stressed and upset about something but she seemed like she didn't want to talk about it.
''Hey Tsukasa, which end of a chocolate cornet is the head, the fat end or the skinny end?'' Konata asked out of the blue.
    ''Huh'' replied a confused Tsukasa.
OH COME ON! She just asked me that question not half an hour ago and I thought we came to a conclusion.
With the final bell ringing, the first day of school was over and the three of us went to grab our things before heading off but I was asked to stay behind and quickly have a talk with the teacher who asked about my living arrangements because she had obviously heard that it was just me and my sister living together before I satisfied her with my response. Konata agreed to wait for me by the school gates so we could walk home together but as I got there, I couldn't find her at all, I would have set off for home if I hadn't heard a scream from down the street. I ran to see what the commotion was about before I saw a grown man been assaulted by my blue haired Otaku and Tsukasa was crouched on the floor screaming in fear.
''What's going on here Konata…Tsukasa?'' I yelled as I ran over to the scene.
''I saw this creep approaching Tsukasa, he looks dangerous'' said Konata as she held him down.
''Konata, let him go!'' I yelled as I ran over to the scuffle and pulled Konata of the man who looked terrified. It was strange that Konata would randomly attack someone; surely she had a good reason for doing so.
''He was trying to hurt Tsukasa'' explained Konata. ''Tsukasa was screaming so I came to look and she was crying, this creep wanted his way with him so I got him before he had the chance''.
''No…he wasn't going to hurt me, he didn't seem frightening…at least I think ''. Said Tsukasa
''Then why are you on the ground crying?'' I asked confused.
''Because Konata punched him before kicking him to the ground, I got scared'' explained Tsukasa.
I looked at the man and could tell he was only visiting Japan straight away, he had a rucksack and looked like he was from America…he had a tattoo of the American flag on his arm. I spoke in English to the guy and Tsukasa and Konata looked stunned by the conversation they couldn't understand. It turns out he was lost and was asking directions for the nearest station.
''He's lost and was asking Tsukasa for directions'' I told the two girls. ''He was never going to hurt you Tsukasa''.
Tsukasa looked relieved as she hugged Konata who was taken by surprise but seemed happy and accepting of the hug.
''What the hell are you doing to her?'' a voice cried out from behind us. We all turned around and saw a taller girl with the same coloured hair as Tsukasa, only longer. She walked towards Tsukasa who was still hugging Konata and had a small look of predictability in her eyes, as if she knew what was going to happen.
''STAY AWAY FROM MY SISTER!'' she yelled at Konata who looked clueless as to what was going on. The purpled long haired girl had Konata by the collar as the foreigner ran off before I had a chance to finish what I was saying to him, whoever she was, she had an intimidating look in her eyes .
''I don't want you near my sister you little blue midget, you understand!'' she said in a threatening kind of voice, it was almost like a demand.
''Huh...what?'' said Konata ''I was saving her or I thought I was''.
''Like hell you were, you were picking on her weren't you!'' she yelled at Konata.
''No…will you let go of me already'' said an annoyed Konata.
''I should kick your ass right here and now you bully but I want to set a good example for Tsukasa so you get off with a warning today!'' she said angrily as she clenched her fists.
Before I knew it, she turned to face me as she let go of Konata and turned her focus on me. She then grabbed me by the collar and pulled me down to her level, our eyes met and she looked very angry at me.
''What are you looking at...trying to look up my skirt or something or we're you going for my sister?'' she spat out in an angry voice.
''You what, I apologize that my friend here got the wrong end of the stick but there's no need to yell at people like that''.
''You want to say that to my face tough guy?'' the girl said to me angrily as she tugged my collar roughly, making my neck feel sore.
''I am saying it to your face'' I answered back.
''Do you want to get hurt?'' she asked in an intimidating voice. ''I could knee you pretty hard you idiot, right in the ''you know what's''.
''ONEE CHAN!'' said an embarrassed Tsukasa ''He's one of my friends, don't hurt him''.
''Him, He's one of the friends you were talking about earlier?'' she snapped angrily.
''Yes, he's very nice and he was the first person to talk to me'' smilled Tsukasa.
''Oh please, I bet he plans to do things to you at school, I can see it in his face!'' the other girl spat out.
''That's not true, I think you've been reading too many comics'' I replied annoyed. ''And can you let go of me already.
Kagami violently and reluctantly let go off my collar before she stared into my eyes and I stared into hers with as just much intensity and anger as she was. Not a word was said for at least thirty seconds before she started to step back but she didn't take her eyes of me as she went aside her sister.
''You don't need friends like that Tsukasa, they'll just take advantage of you like those girls in junior high'' the sister said to Tsukasa as she let go of me with her gaze before grabbing her sister's hand and dragging her down the road with quite some force.
''We're going home!'' she said angrily as Tsukasa struggled to stay on her feet.
''Onee chan...Wait!'' said Tsukasa as she got dragged away. ''You're hurting me''.
I watched as the two purple haired girls disappeared out f our sights, both of us quite unsure on what to say before Konata suddenly broke the silence.
    ''Twins...got to be'' said Konata.
''True, they do look a bit alike...slightly'' I said back to her as I rubbed my neck.
''Are you ok?'' Konata asked me.
''I'll live but she is one angry person''. I replied to her
''If you ask me, the taller one is a tsundere'' grinned Konata ''this school year just got more interesting Matt...I'm getting pumped up''.
''Chill Konata, she almost kicked your ass remember?'' I said to remind Konata of the dangers of this new girl...just who was she and why do I think she's kind of cute despite all of the anger?
''Meh, I could have taken her'' said a confident Konata.
''You're sure confident aren't you'' I said surprised. ''She managed to bruise my neck yet you seem confident still''.
''Well I do know Karate'' said Konata as she did a few kicks before I told her doing such a thing in a skirt was probably a bad idea...I saw her underwear and turned away quickly but didn't say anything despite Konata giggling at me.
''You liked what you saw'' Konata teased.
''I didn't…I'm not like that Konata, I respect everyone and I would never look at a girl like that…especially outdoors''.
''What if she was your girlfriend?'' asked Konata
''Let's not go into this right now'' I said as I returned to rubbing my neck.
''Sorry'' apologized Konata ''I sometimes don't know when I go too far''. Konata smiled slightly and rubbed the back of her head.
''Anyway...it looks like we have to keep away from Tsukasa'' I said to change the subject.
''No way, she's not Tsukasa's keeper'' laughed Konata ''besides, you've gotten more angry then she has so there's no reason to be afraid''. ''Remember when those boys were going to have their way with me when I refused to go along with what they wanted?''.''That was one time Konata...those boys were going to hurt you, all five of them'' I said annoyed. ''The perverts''
''And you saved me...my big strong Tsundere!'' she said to me as I squeezed his waist tightly. ''You scared them half to death, they ran away like little girls but didn't you throw one through a window?''.
''He deserved it and maybe I got carried away'' I sighed. ''I had to pay for that window, remember?''
''Well it was five on one Matt, not many other people would take those chances but they didn't lay a hand on you...no one at Junior high dared call you a name or do anything to you yet you're a good person''. Konata told me ''My Tsundere''
''I'M NOT A TSUNDERE!'' I yelled as I gasped for air, my neck was still very sore.
    ''Are'' Konata said
    ''Am not'' I argued back
''You are...admit it'' Konata said teasingly
''Never Konata, that will never happen!'' I said as loud as I could but all I did was strain my throat even more, I felt very uncomfortable.
''Oh go on'' she said with a smile.
''I will never admit that Konata!'' He yelled back ''Can we just get going to the arcades and shops?''
Konata just laughed and nodded before letting me go, she can be cute when she puts that little childish voice of hers on...why do I keep thinking like that, it's unlike me to think that Konata is cute or dreamy...I'm doing it again...what's is this strange feeling I'm developing but having Konata hug me was so good...am I being weird….no way, we're close as friends, that's all it is.
After an evening at the arcades with Konata whooping my ass on Mortal Kombat we decided to head home, the sun was setting and bringing an end to my first day as a high school student and boy had it been eventful. Just who was that purple haired girl and why was she so angry with Konata and myself. As I thought about all of the possible answers, I was taken off the subject when I spotted the girl herself.
''Hey Konata...isn't that the girl we saw earlier?'' I asked as I pointed to her as she emerged from a book store, she looked both ways before putting up a hood over her head and walking away with a full bag in her hands.
''That's a Manga store'' replied Konata ''Do you think she could be a ...closet Otaku?'' asked Konata
I doubt it...it just seemed too much of a coincidence for us to come across another Otaku who could also be a tsundere on the same day. But as I looked at Konata, her hopeful look said everything.
''Who knows Konata...maybe'' I replied to her
''I bet she's a Yaoi fan...she looks the type who would keep it a secret'' said an excited Konata
''Oh come on, someone that angry can't have that many hobbies'' I pointed out.
''You of all people should know how a Tsundere acts'' Konata said.
''Watch it'' I said annoyed but Konata just laughed.
''What are we going to do Matt?'' Konata asked. ''I'm not staying away from Tsukasa and she invited us both over to her house on Saturday''.
''Well that might change tomorrow if she has her way'' I pointed as we watched the girl head further away, not seeing us as she walked away.
''That's unfair, Tsukasa should be able to choose her own friends, I actually thought she was brave for getting over her fear of talking to new people''. Said Konata
I've never heard Konata call anyone brave before, she seems serious about the Tsukasa issue.
''Look, if you want, I can go and talk to her sister sometime and see if we can't work something out?'' I suggested to Konata.
''We don't need her permission'' replied Konata.
''No but it would be a lot easier if she wasn't trying to hurt us if we go near Tsukasa, don't you think?'' I asked Konata.
''I doubt it will change anything…a Tsundere can be quite stubborn'' pointed out Konata.
''Wait…you think I'm stubborn?'' I said in a surprised voice.
''A little, you can be difficult to persuade'' Konata winked.
''Sorry for having a family to take care of'' I said insulted.
''I'm sorry…I've done it again haven't I?'' apologized Konata. ''This girl has gotten to me, she looked like she was going to punch me if she hadn't turned her attentions to you, I can't stop thinking about it''.
''Look, before Saturday, I'll go and have a talk with Tsukasa's sister'' I told Konata. ''Don't think about her''.
''Ok then but be careful man'' said Konata.
''When have you ever asked me to be a little careful at all Konata'' I asked her with a grin
''I just…don't want two Tsundere's to get into a fight is all'' Konata winked
''And there I was thinking you cared'' I sighed.
''I do, just in my own way'' Konata giggled.
''Yeah, yeah'' I replied with a huff.
We eventually returned to our neighbourhood and we parted ways, we would be talking online later on like we usually do but I couldn't help but feel that Konata lived further away then she actually did. By estimate it's a four minute walk from her house to mine but it feels like four miles every time and I've never been able to figure why that is.
I arrived home and took my shoes and coat off before rubbing my neck; a purple bruise had appeared there. I've seen a lot of purple today…Tsukasa and her sister both have purple hair but that's almost all they have in common, Tsukasa is a kind and good person whilst Kagami seems like a fire breathing dragon whose eggs have been stolen. Before I could think anymore about it, I was flow to the ground once again like I had been at the start off the day by the same person.
    ''CHOCOLATE!'' Hayase yelled
''The thought that I had forgotten about all day flew through my mind and I knew that I had no way out of the situation.
''I knew you would forget'' huffed Hayase. ''You idiot''.
''Now I'm sure Matt's had a busy day today and just forgot'' pointed out Nano.
''He doesn't like is what it is'' snapped Hayase.
I didn't mention earlier that Hayase can sometimes be angry around me because on a personal matter, I haven't and won't tell her about what happened to our family all those years ago. She would keep pestering about the subject and I don't feel comfortable about what happened to talk about it to anyone, only Konata has a vague idea about what happened but her father knows all about it because he knew my parents.
Hayase would say that I don't love her and she has run away three times in the last two years after heated arguments.
''Ok I'll go to the store and get you some'' I sighed as I got back onto my feet and I had been hoping to relax for a few minutes at least.
''Matt…'' I heard Nano say as I closed the door behind me. I also heard Nano telling Hayase off as I walked away but I can't blame Hayase for getting mad at me…I'd be mad too if I didn't know what happened to my parents but I do know…I was there when it happened.
But that is the way my life is, I'm always on the move doing something, the only time I really get for rest is when I go to bed…Nano might be a robot but I sometimes feel like one two, I wonder what my life would be like if my parents were still with us…would I be the same hard working person? I didn't want to think about it as I head to the nearest store, my day had been full of meeting and making friends and meeting protective sisters who would let a fly touch them…would I go that far to protect my sister if she made a friend? Who was she and why couldn't I get those eyes out of my head…there seemed to be so much passion in them…it impressed and amazed me.
I didn't know how I was going to talk to Tsukasa's sister but I told Konata that I would so I can't back out now….I'll think about it in the morning, if I hang out here much longer I might not go home, I would probably keep on wandering and wondering about so many decisions that I have to make in the foreseeable future.
My day had made me think about so much, the past is drifting further away but it still doesn't make me feel any easier and the future looked uncertain with Tsukasa and her angry sister entering my life and Hayase was getting more distraught making me think that the talk has to happen sometime soon.
It was now night time and the lights along the street flashed on as I headed towards the shop, I would walk past Konata's house along the way were her father waved at me and pulled me over for a quick chat. Konata might go on about how much of a pervert he is but he has his moments where he can be a good parent but this wasn't one of those times as he asked me about the school's girl's gym kit because Konata wouldn't do so…I made my excuses and left. I looked up at the moon and felt a mysterious vibe as if someone was watching me from somewhere… but I couldn't see anyone about so I headed on….wondering what would happen next but no matter what it was, I would take it on…I had too, I was the only one left who could.

    chapter 4: kagami

    Konata- its Kagamin's chapter!
    Kagami- Don't call me that
Konata- Not again, another character jumping the gun
    Kagami- It's my chapter though
Konata- we're the two main characters you know
Kagami- Believe me, I know Konata, you never shut up about it
    Matt- Don't start you two
    Misao- CATFIGHT!
Matt- Fuck off Misao, you're not in the story yet either
Misao- Sheez, I had better get my own chapter for that remark
Kagami- Don't count on it…Konata's really strict on who gets a chapter
Konata- Your damn right, go back to Otaku and the Dumb Character!
Matt- Dude! You'll get us in trouble again
Kagami- Lets just start the chapter already
    KAGAMI
''Damn it Konata, I've told you before…stop sneaking into my bed when I'm asleep!'' I yelled after opening my tired eyes to spot emerald green eyes and a cat like grin staring at me, how long had she been staring at me for?
Konata giggled and placed her finger on my mouth to stop me from talking, she would continue to lie and stare at me. She appeared to be wearing a short yellow top with a pink skirt.
''Anything….to say Konata?'' I asked her slowly as I moved her finger from my lips.
''Can I borrow your notes from Japanese class?'' asked Konata with a childish grin on her face.
A sudden shove and the blue haired Otaku was on my bedroom floor. Sitting up and crossing her legs, she would continue to stare at me
''No…do it yourself'' I said firmly.
But she would continue to look at me with rosy red cheeks and the same smile on her face.
''Konata…this is starting to get weird, why are you staring at me?'' I asked hesitantly.
''You're eyes'' she said quickly and quietly as she crawled back onto the bed ''I like how blue they are''.
I froze on the spot as she moved closer, why was she saying these things to me…she's never said anything like this before.
''Is this a joke? Are you going to spring on me and steal my notes or something?'' I asked with a small laugh.
''You're so cute when you get nervous'' smiled Konata as she lied next to me on the bed.
''I…I think I'd better get up and get changed'' I told her as I sat up and caught her by surprise.
''There's no rush….it's only six in the morning'' giggled Konata.
''W…why did you wake me up so early and why are you even here this early?'' I asked frantically.
''Because….I have something that I need to say to you…and I don't think I can wait any longer to say these words'' admitted Konata.
    ''K…Konata?'' I said confused.
''We've known each other so long now Matt…you're my best friend but I…I sometimes see you…as more than a friend…I've never spoke like this before because I was afraid of what you would think but I know that you won't mind so I'm going to say it straight to your face'' said Konata as her confidence built.
Not that it ever needed to…Konata's the most confident person I know but the look in her face showed fear.
''M…more, Konata, what are you trying to say?'' I asked slowly but with a feeling of what she wanted to say. How could I not see it before, have I been so stupid to not see the signs?
''Well I want you to know just how much you-
    ''Matt…you'll be late!''
A sudden shudder as I shot up from my bed, I was all alone in my room with Konata nowhere in sight…it was just a dream…a dream I've had more than once…why can't I forget.
''Are you awake up there?'' I heard Nano call from the bottom of the stairs. ''Konata's on her way over''.
''I'm awake already'' I yawned ''It's a Saturday, what do I have to be late for?''
The thought of my continuous dream …Konata and what she was about to say to me, I never get past that moment even though I already know what happened….dreaming about the past was starting to become a bit of a habit recently.
''You're going to a friend's house aren't you?'' Nano asked me. ''You told me to wake you up today''.
Soon enough I was on a train with Konata as we headed to the very next station where Tsukasa lived nearby. The otaku looked happier than usual as she grinned the whole way, hugging my arm as if we were a couple or something.
''You seem happy…did a new game come out today?'' I asked
''No…I just like spending Saturdays with you'' Konata replied.
The train journey was unsurprisingly long.
    Tsukasa
This is the first time I've ever had friends over before…I'm glad mother and father are fine with it…but I haven't told Kagami yet and after what happened last time…I'm not sure if I could tell her.
''Tsukasa…Mom wants you to get out of bed and come have breakfast'' said Kagami as she stepped into my bedroom.
''W…what time is it?'' I asked in a sleepy voice.
''its noon sleepy head'' sighed Kagami. ''You're so lazy''.
''NOON! I don't have much time'' I said panicky
Without saying another word I slipped out of my comfy bed and headed for the bathroom, leaving my sister looking confused but I'll explain to her later or rather have her find out for herself…not looking forward to that moment but she won't do anything when our parents are in the house.
It took ages to have a shower and eat my breakfast as well as make sure my room was tidy; everyone wondering what had gotten into me. I would keep looking out of my window for any sign of either of them, it felt like a really long time but nothing happened.
Kagami didn't ask me what I was doing, she just went back into her room to read which she seemed to do a lot lately.

    chapter 3: tsukasa

    Matt
''Are you going to behave Konata?'' I asked cautiously.
''I'm not a kid you know'' Konata giggled ''you don't have to worry about anything at all''.
Well you would fool me Konata…can you survive an afternoon without Anime or will your head explode?
''It was nice for Tsukasa to invite us over'' I said quickly
''Yeah, I've never been to a shrine before'' admitted Konata.
''What the…you've never been to a shrine?'' I asked confused ''Impossible Konata…you must have at least once…right?''
''Never…I'm usually too exhausted after Comiket on new years to be bothered to go to one'' Konata sighed.
''You don't have much hope for the future do you'' I replied with a sigh of my own.
''Awww you're concerned about me'' she said happily as she hugged me around my waist teasingly.
''Grow up already, we're here'' I said in a desperate attempt to get her off me. The thought of the dream came back and Konata must have noticed my sudden blush for she grinned at me.
''What are you thinking about?'' she asked me with her cat like grin.
    ''Nothing Konata…just a dream'' I said quietly.
''What's it about…am I in it?'' she asked me teasingly before nudging me in the gut which I found annoying.
''Can we just ring the bell already'' I sighed.
    ''Ring away master'' Konata joked.
''I'm not your master Konata'' I replied.
    ''You were on-
''That's enough of that'' I said as I put my hand over her mouth.
''…Ok but you're so telling me about your dream later'' Konata winked.
''Whatever'' I muttered as I rang the door bell. A moment passed before a man with short hair stepped out and signalled us to come inside. It looked really tidy and organised and there were so many shoes in the hallway, mostly girl shoes.
''Welcome to our home'' The man smiled ''Tsukasa has been talking so much about having her friends over''.
Tsukasa was sat in the living room by herself watching television, she seemed so happy and got even happier when she realised we were here although her hair was a bit messy but I was polite enough not to say anything.
''Your hairs a mess girl'' teased Konata.
…I said I was polite enough not to say anything.
''Thank you for having us, we won't be any trouble'' I said as I bowed down, not as low as Konata but she has a head start so that goes without saying.
''It's our pleasure, it's so nice to meet some of Tsukasa's friends'' smilled the mother.
''Who's this Tsukasa?'' I heard another girl say as she entered the room; a grin appeared on her face as she spotted me making feel quite uncomfortable. ''I always imagined Kagami being the first to bring a boy back here'' she sniggered
''Oh be nice Matsuri'' said the father.
''Just saying but well done sis…landing a boyfriend before anyone else here'' said Matsuri as she patted Tsukasa on the back who from how she looked, resembled a boiling red tea pot…I've never seen so much sweat before, Konata just started to laugh which didn't help matters but when did she ever help matters.
    ''He's…he's –
''I'm just her friend…we're not dating or anything'' I said to assure everyone.
''Sure you are'' Matsuri winked ''Well it was nice to meet you guys'' she said before walking out of the room and down the hall.
''Where's Kagami at, she should meet your new friends Tsukasa'' suggested the mother.
''I think she's in her room…studying'' said Tsukasa
''KAGAMI!'' called the father from the bottom of the stairs.
So that's her name…Kagami…sounds nice actually.
''Wait a second, I-'' said Tsukasa before being cut off by her twin sister's voice.
I could tell that Tsukasa was nervous and from what I remembered from the last time I ran into Kagami, I couldn't really blame her. The anger in that girl's…cute face would intimidate almost anyone but not Konata for some reason.
    ''Yes father?'' replied Kagami.
''Come and say hello to Tsukasa's friends'' said the father.
The slightly taller twin entered the living room and did a very well done job of keeping a straight face as she saw me and Konata.
''Welcome to our home'' bowed Kagami.
Wearing long orange socks and a purple top with suspenders, the Tsundere said no more as the mother gave everyone drinks. An hour of talking past before the parents had to run errands, leaving Tsukasa to take us upstairs but as we reached the top, I was dragged the opposite way to Tsukasa and Konata by Kagami.
The older twin dragged me into her room and slammed the door shut before grabbing me by the shoulders and slamming me into a wardrobe.
''Ok, what are you doing here'' Kagami said to me as she slided her bedroom door shut after it had reopened. I suddenly felt like a prisoner who was going to be tortured if I did not comply.
''Tsukasa invited me and Konata over'' I answered quickly.
''I thought I told you to stay away from her, she doesn't need your type in her life'' Kagami replied sternly.
''Excuse me, my type!'' I said insulted. ''What…because I'm a boy, I can't be friends with her''
''I know all about you and how you fight people'' Kagami replied in a higher tone. ''I've done my research…you threw a boy through a school window in junior high''.
''Hey, he deserved it…the slime ball'' I said with a huff.
''I'm sure he did'' replied Kagami in a sarcastic tone.
''From what I get from looking at you, you're the violent one in this room'' I said back to her.
''I…I do what I need to do to protect Tsukasa from thugs like you'' Kagami said angrily. ''You and that blue girl would eat her alive and I won't let you get the chance too''.
''If you're trying to scare me Kagami then your failing and I'll also say that I'm not planning to hurt or upset Tsukasa…I'm just her friend and you can't stop her from making them!'' I told her sternly.
''And what makes you think that I won't just kick your ass and throw YOU out of a window'' she said with a threat as she pointed at me. ''Maybe I need proof that your being serious and you won't hurt or pick on my sister before I can trust you at all''.
''Why don't you just try Kagami…I won't stop you at all…show me that your just like me by doing what you think I would do… If you need proof then here it is, I dare you to do it'' I said to her in a serious tone.
At first she looked serious but as the seconds ticked away, nothing happened at all, she just let go of me and sat in her computer chair…not taking her eyes of me.
''Your serious aren't you'' she said slowly.
''Your damn right I am…If I have to break an arm or leg for you to see that I would never hurt anyone intentionally then go ahead and toss me out of this window…but just know that everything you have heard about me is true…I did throw a guy through a school window but I had a reason for it and if you knew more about it then you might understand that I had no choice'' I said angrily but emotionally.
    ''I…I-
''I what…are you having second thoughts? Is Kagami Hiiragi backing down all of a sudden?'' I asked angrily.
''I…don't be such a drama queen…I don't want to throw you out of the window ok…but is it really so wrong for me to want to protect Tsukasa…No matter what! She's my twin and so many people have tried to use her before…boys…girls…the countless nights were she would be sat on my bed and in my arms crying about it… I swore to her that I wouldn't let anyone hurt her again but why can't I stay mad at you….what the fuck makes you so special that I actually want to believe your words and not hurt you'' Kagami said as she stood up and walked a little closer to me, emotion in her face but no tears.
''Kagami…you're not as horrible as people say are you…I'm actually starting to think your nice but I thought you were some kind of bully before I came here but your just looking out for Tsukasa and I can relate, we both have something in common…I hope what I'm saying makes sense'' I said to Kagami.
''…It does…do you really think I'm…nice though?'' asked Kagami in what sounded like a hopeful voice which confused me. Does this girl only act tough and angry but deep down is a girl who feels…lonely?
''Well I don't really know you that well yet but from what I've heard you say today, I feel it…I feel that you are a nice person but you seem to take things a lot more seriously than a lot of people'' I replied.
''I'm…well I'm sorry if I hurt you at all'' apologized Kagami although she looked like she didn't want to say sorry.
''And I'm sorry for being born a boy'' I joked.
''Stupid, I don't hate boys you know…boys hate me'' sighed Kagami.
''I don't hate you, I just had to stop you from hurting me or my friend'' I admitted.
A minute passed and we were both unsure what to say or where to look. Kagami looked at her wardrobe and I glanced at her door. It was like she wasn't going to do anything violent but wasn't sure how else to talk to me.
''I…I'll let you be friends with her…with Tsukasa…for now but I swear if you ever upset her I'll-
''You don't need to worry about that Kagami and who knows…maybe we could become friends one day'' I said kindly to Kagami and I swear I saw a small blush from Kagami but she covered it up well.
''You should know that I don't like to be violent but like you…I'd do anything to protect my sister from harm…she's all I have now of my family'' I said silently and a little sad.
''You have a sister? Hayase was it?'' said Kagami in a soft voice. ''You know what it's like to have to care for someone you really care about''.
''Ummm yeah'' I said confused. ''I'd give my life up for Hayase!''
I don't know what it was but it seemed like I had somehow gotten through to the Tsundere, it was like I had won her trust.
''I…I feel like I…I can talk to you…no I….I don't know'' said a confused Kagami. ''I've tried my hardest to close myself off from boys…none of them have ever wanted to have a conversation with me, they all think I have a short temper or something but you look like you want to talk to me…do you?'' Kagami asked me.
''I have to admit…this is the most grown up conversation I've had for quite some time, I'm slowly starting to enjoy it…you protect Tsukasa like I protect Hayase and despite me being a boy…I can tell you're slowly starting to trust me…am I right?'' I asked her.
''…Maybe…what was your name again?'' Kagami asked me as her eyes turned to the window.
''its Matthew…Matthew Yamamoto but everyone just calls me Matt'' I said with a smile.
''A western name…are you an exchange student or something?'' Kagami asked me with a surprisingly interested look on her face as she focused on me again.
''No…my father was British and he married my mother who was Japanese so I'm half of each'' I explained.
''Wow…do you want a drink or something…that is if you want to stay and…talk some more?'' Kagami asked nicely.
''Sure, green tea if you have any?'' I replied kindly.
''Make yourself at home then…I'll be right back'' Kagami smiled.
With that said, she left the room much happier then she had entered it before. I couldn't understand how all along she was hiding her true self from people…was she afraid to show that side to anyone? I hope Tsukasa and Konata are alright, maybe I should ask them to come in as well but Konata and Kagami still aren't quite there yet…maybe another time.
    Konata
''Well…should we step in and say something Konata?'' I asked Tsukasa as we were both leaning in and listening to Matt and Kagami's conversation…Well they had been gone for quite some time and I got a little concerned but I won't let him know that.
''It looks like their having…fun'' said a bewildered Tsukasa ''Sis is smiling''.
''Is that a good thing?'' I asked Tsukasa. ''I mean their drinking tea together''
''It means she trusts him…this has never happened before'' said an amazed Tsukasa. ''I'm so happy for her''.
''Is it me…or are those two very alike?'' I asked Tsukasa.
The thought had entered my mind a while ago. It was like they were almost exactly like each other …except they were different sexes.
''I know what you mean…their both always serious and Matt has always been honest like sis is'' replied Tsukasa.
''This is a good thing…isn't it?'' I asked confused. ''They both have a lot in common''.
''Yeah…it means we can all be friends and not worry about Kagami trying to prevent that…what a relief'' smiled Tsukasa.
    ''Yeah… a relief'' I muttered.
This doesn't seem as good as it looks to me. Kagami reads light novels like Matt does and their both always so passionate…they would both make great leaders and I've rarely ever seen Matt look so happy when he talks…not even with… me.
''Maybe we should leave them for a while'' Tsukasa suggested.
''Yeah…let's let them talk'' I said as I shrugged.
Tsukasa took me back to her room and it wasn't for another two hours before Matt finally came back with his little smile, I was happy that everything had been sorted out but we never really got to hang out like I had wanted too…and I can't help but feel annoyed whenever Matt is with Kagami and I have no idea why…I've never felt like this before.
We would both leave soon afterwards, it had been a good afternoon but I wasn't used to the things we did…we just sat and talked, no games…Anime or Manga or shopping for merchandise…is this what everyone else is doing?
''What are you thinking about?'' Matt asked me, snapping out of my track of thought.
''Oh…just all the shows I missed last night'' I lied.
''Why did I even ask?'' he sighed jokingly.
''You seemed to get along with that Kagami girl'' I said to him.
''Yeah…she's nice once you get to know her'' Matt smiled''.
    ''It's been a day Matt'' I replied.
''Yeah but we talked so much today…I thought she was a girl who liked to start fights with guys but she's not like that at all…she's like…''
    ''You…'' I replied.
''Yeah…how'd you know that?'' he asked suspiciously.
''Just a guess…well me and Tsukasa got along as well…such a klutz but so adorable at the same time'' I giggled.
''Yeah, they're both friendly…I knew it would be a good day in the end and you even managed a whole day without Anime'' Matt joked.
    ''Yeah... '' I replied slowly.
    ''Konata…what's wrong?'' Matt asked me.
    ''Nothing…I'm just…hungry'' I lied.
''You sure, you look a little annoyed about something'' Matt replied to me.
''It's nothing Matt'' I replied quickly.
    ''Konata…you can tell me''
''Wouldn't you rather talk with Kagami?'' I asked sarcastically.
''Well I never, are you jealous Konata…that's the silliest thing you've ever said''
''Oh, because all I say is silly and immature things right, unlike Kagami who's so sophisticated and clever'' I said annoyed.
''Konata, you're my best friend…why do you always get like this whenever I make a new friend?'' He asked me confused.
''I don't…but I'm meant to be your friend who you do everything with but today you spent all afternoon with Kagami'' I said back.
''I told you I was going to have a word with her and you'll be friends with her soon'' he replied with a smile.
''No thanks, I don't want to be friends with someone who thinks their better than me'' I huffed.
''She doesn't think she's better then you Konata'' Matt sighed. ''Your getting wound up over nothing''.
''Don't talk to me like I'm a kid'' I barked back.
''Konata, calm down…I've never seen you so angry before'' Matt admitted.
''I'm not angry, I just don't like Kagami, there's something about her'' I said.
''Your envious and are worrying that Kagami is going to take your place when there's no need to'' he replied.
    ''Envious…over her'' I spat.
''I'll admit, this is the most I've seen you get jealous over another girl'' Matt told me.
    ''Maybe…ok I might get a little envious'' I admitted.
''You have no reason to be Konata…we're not best friends for life for nothing you know, I'm not going to replace you with the first person I meet'' Matt laughed.
''You sure man?'' I asked him.
''Positive Konata, we've been through so much…so much that no one could ever replace you…it's impossible''.
We both went silent, I felt better that Matt told me all of that but the thought of that purple haired Tsundere and how much they both had in common made me worry…what if they got close one day? The thought of them both kissing made me feel sick but I have no proof so I shouldn't be thinking like this, it isn't me.
''Do…do you want to stay over tonight?'' I asked Matt.
He sighed before agreeing to sleep over at my house for the night. This is silly, me and Matt aren't even together anymore, it was so long ago since we were a couple and I wish we had never broken up, is that why I get so upset when another girl starts to feel comfortable around him?
